Xin obtained her PhD from UW-Madison in 2016 (Emery Bresnick’s lab). She then completed two postdoctoral fellowships at Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Paul Frenette's lab) and UW-Madison (Jing Zhang's lab). Xin was awarded K01 award and ASH Fellow-to-Faculty Scholar Award to focus her studies on bone marrow microenvironment and hematopoietic stem cells. She joined UW-Madison faculty in 2023.

Matt graduated with his B.S. in Biology and Microbiology from University of Texas at Arlington. He joined the Gao lab as a research specialist in September 2023.

Alice graduated from UW-Madison with her B.S. double majors in Neurobiology and psychology. She joined the Gao lab as a PhD student in August 2024.
